CANADIAN FREESTYLE SKIERS THE DUFOUR-LAPOINTE SISTERS CAST IN THE QUEBEC FRENCH VERSION OF “PLANES: FIRE & RESCUE” 

New Comedy-Adventure to hit theatres July 18, 2014

TORONTO, May 29, 2014 – Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Canada is pleased to announce that Canadian freestyle skiers and 2014 Winter Olympic competitors Chloé, Justine and Maxime Dufour-Lapointe will lend their voices to various cameo roles in the Quebec French language version of Disney’s “Planes: Fire & Rescue.” Directed by Bobs Gannaway, “Planes: Fire & Rescue” is a new comedy-adventure that soars into theatres in 3D on July 18, 2014.

The Dufour-Lapointe sisters grew up in Montréal, Québec, and have been competing in freestyle skiing for over 12 years. All three sisters recently competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics for Canada in women’s moguls, where Justine became the Olympic champion and Chloé won silver. Chloé is the reigning FIS World Champion in dual moguls with her title-winning run at the 2013 World Championships. Justine, the reigning Olympic champion, also won bronze at the 2013 FIS World Championships in the moguls event. Maxime made her World Cup debut in 2007 and has been a regular competitor on the circuit since 2008 finishing fourth in moguls in 2014.

Justine voices Pinecone, a bulldozer equipped with a rake tool to clear brush and debris, who is a member of a fearless team of grounded firefighters called the Smokejumpers. Maxime and Chloé will voice the cameo roles of a dispatcher and bar maiden respectively.

ABOUT “PLANES: FIRE & RESCUE”

“Planes: Fire & Rescue” is a new comedy-adventure about second chances, featuring a dynamic crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire. When world famous air racer Dusty (voice of Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire-and-rescue helicopter Blade Ranger (voice of Ed Harris) and his courageous team, including spirited air tanker Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter (voice of Wes Studi), ex-military transport Cabbie (voice of Captain Dale Dye) and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero. Directed by Bobs Gannaway (“Secret of the Wings”) and produced by Ferrell Barron (“The Fox and the Hound 2”), “Planes: Fire & Rescue” hits theatres in 3D on July 18, 2014.
